Portfolio wrappers with some chipping and edgewear. Internally neat and clean. Very good. Scarce set of colored photographic views of buildings featured at the Panama Pacific Exposition, which was held in San Francisco in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. Includes shots of the Avenue of Palms; Tower of Jewels (day and night views); Court of the Universe; Palace of Fine Arts; Palace of Horticulture; and more. The Detroit Publishing Company obtained the exclusive rights to use the Swiss "Photochrom" process for converting black-and- white photographs into color images and printing them by photolithography. This process permitted the mass production of color postcards, prints, and albums for sale to the American market. (Inventory #: WRCAM38273)
