[Mexic, 1835. Broadsheet, 8 x 11.5 inches. Manuscript marking in upper right corner of recto, official stamp in lower left corner of verso. Clean and bright. Near fine. An important fiscal decree relating to the improvement of Mexico's national road system. Each state in the Mexican union owed twenty- five percent of its annual revenue (either in cash or labor) to the federal government. Acceptable methods of payment or debt resolution are here laid out in detail. Of particular interest is Article 2, which allows Sinaloa and Sonora (recently separated from Occidente) to pay only twenty percent, on account of their recent organization as separate states. For five years afterward, Sinaloa and Sonora would continue to struggle, and the present document is good evidence of their administrative woes. (Inventory #: WRCAM29862)
