This handsome Terramare Press calendar for the year 1941 contains 28 photographic reproductions (half-tone photomechanical prints) of ancient and modern German art and architecture, such as: medieval castles in Heidelberg, Marienburg, Carlstein, Sanssouci and Würzburg; churches, including Wies in Bavaria, cathedrals in Braunschweig, Naumburg, Worms and Strasbourg. Includes interior views of Luther's room in Wartburg, and Frederick the Great's private library in Sanssouci. Reproductions of paintings and sculpture; views of 19th-century and modern architecture including the Altes Museum in Berlin, the Glockenturm (Bell Tower) of the Olympic stadium in Berlin, the Ehrentempel in Munich (on front cover), a view of Hitler's office at the new Reichskanzlei designed by Albert Speer, and the sculpture of the eagle and swastika at Luitpoldhain near Nuremberg (vignette on last leaf). Also includes reproductions of portraits and sculptures of Otto von Bismarck, Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich the Great, Richard Wagner (bronze by Arno Breker), Empress Maria and princesses Luise and Fredericke von Preussen. Including photographs depicting Wilhelm Furtwangler conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker; Marianne Hoppe performing as Joan of Arc, at the Schauspielhauses in Berlin; Wilhelm Walter Friedrich Kempff, the renown German pianist and composer; sculptor Arno Breker at work in his atelier; students of the musical school of Frankfurt am Main playing the violin; students with their professor at the art school of Berlin; a German theater company performing for soldiers on the Eastern Front; an atelier at the porcelain manufacture of Nymphenburg, and a historical concert at the Bamberg Residenz.
