by PRESTON, Richard
NY: Random House, 1994. First Edition, first printing. Signed presentation from Preston on the half-title page: "For Susan, With best wishes- and thank you for your help. Richard Preston. Nov. 21, 1994." In his dust jacket blurb, horror writer Stephen King called the first chapter "one of the most horrifying things I've read in my whole life...and then it gets worse". When asked whether any book "scared the pants off you" writer Suzanne Collins answered "The Hot Zone, by Richard Preston. I just read it a few weeks ago. Still recovering." The book served as the (very loose) basis of the Hollywood movie "Outbreak" (1995) about military machinations surrounding a fictional "Motaba virus. Tall 8vo., black cloth & boards in dust jacket; 300 pages. Fine (covers nice; contents clean & tight); very nice d/j.
