Provenance: Inscribed "Miss Elizabeth Moore. from a friend. 1848." and "L.A. Nichols. 1881" on front free endpaper; "Louisa A. Nichols 1881" on back free endpaper in black ink. Bound in straight-grained calf, spine amply decorated in blind and gilt with top inch of spine leather lacking, covers with triple ruled borders. Joints and corners rubbed, hinges cracked but holding. Two abrasions on front cover. All edges speckled brown. Inscribed as above with occasional brown spotting and light age-toning throughout text.
