Copyright document laid in: single sheet, partially printed, completed in manuscript, stating that a copy of this title was deposited in the Library of Congress on the 17th of May, 1907, "in conformity with the laws of the United States respecting Copyrights." Blindstamp of the Library of Congress copyright office. A retelling of the death of Amos J. Stillwell (1828-1888) who was murdered with an axe. This fictionalized record of a society murder in Hannibal involved reports that Stillwell's wife conspired with Joseph Carter Hearne, a local surgeon with whom she had fallen in love, to murder her husband.
