First edition of this gathering of Yamamoto's small-scale, meditative photographs, in a distinctive presentation: one extremely long leperello-style, accordion-folded stretch, printed on both sides and housed in (and affixed to) a sleek hardwood case with fitted lid. Unfolded, the piece => extends to over 14 feet, providing either two different complete installations — one on each side — or a series of individual vignettes depending on one's choices. This is => one of 1000 copies printed; the format was designed by Reiko Nakajima and the artist.
The publisher's blurb describes Yamamoto's artist book in this way: "Omizuao is an accordion-bound 'pillow book' — A collection of landscapes, flowers and female nudes. The artist has used the accordion-bound format to create an installation which measures some 14 feet when fully opened, but which can also be viewed as => 45 individual spreads . . hand bound in two clear-lacquered hardwood covers, and presented in a matching wooden box. Wooden box as above; interior and exterior in lovely condition. An uncommon and remarkable item. (Inventory #: 36021)
