Single sheet, folded to 25 x 20 cm. One printed page of text, 2 blank pages, addressed on verso of the integral leaf. This copy unused. Folded for mailing, stamped with a Montgomery, AL. postmark; small blank piece of last leaf detached, but present. The bank note reads (in part): " [--] after date, we [--] jointly and severally, promise to pay to the Cashier of the Branch of the Bank of the State of Alabama at Montgomery, or bearer, [--] Dollars, for value received...." Small stamped name of Leslie A. Boone in the section printing the form. The form is accompanied by a short printed explanation from J. Hutchinson which states that Col. Freeman has just transferred his "Bank Agency" business to Hutchinson. He pledges to pay prompt attention to the requisitions of his and Freeman's friends "in all matters in which he or I have recently been engaged in." Hutchinson also reports that the bank in Montgomery is now discounting notes,of which the form printed here is an example. He says that the note needs to be signed under the word "credit" as well as "at the usual place." This particular form is addressed to Mr. James Porte, Bellville, Alabama. (Inventory #: 61068)
