by DUANE, William (1760 - 1835)
Philadelphia, 1814. unbound. 1 page, 9 x 7.75 inches, Philadelphia, May 6, 1814. Written to the 4th Military District, in reference to troop movements, in full: "The detachments of Recruits at the National on the Delaware will be embodied and prepared to march to New York with all possible expediences. Returns to be made to the office of the Adjutant General, of the arms, accruements and equipments wanted to complete the several Corps. General Bloomfield will outfit the recruits of Province Island and East Mifflin on Monday next and review the arrangements which shall be made by commandants of the several Corps." Some brittleness with uneven toning, some chipping at the right-hand margin culminating with the loss of three letters of text in one word. Surprisingly it is still very easy to read. Good condition; priced accordingly. Irish-born American journalist and editor of the Aurora, and later Adjutant General during the War of 1812. (Inventory #: 266391)
