BART. PICTURE BOOK. THE BANDIT MOUSE by W.A. Frisbie. Chicago: Rand McNally (1900). Large 4to (8 3/4 x 12 1/2"), pictorial cloth, spine ends frayed, several margin mends and one leaf lacking lower corner with text, tight and G-VG. This is a fantastic picture book of stories featuring a host of humanized animals, odd creatures and anthropomorphized objects. The book begins with the Tale of the Bandit Mouse and ends with The End of the Tale. Every page is fully illustrated in color by BART (Charles Bartholomew) reminiscent of Denslow, with text integrated into the page. One of the wonderful American picture books produced at the turn of the last century. Scare.
