Striking Limited Editions Club collection of Heaney's verse, with an introduction by Thomas Flanagan. Henry Pearson both selected the poems for this gathering — which includes => some early pieces never before published in book form — and created the relief-engraved illustrations, which were modelled after motifs found at Newgrange and printed in "an earth brown" directly from Pearson's engravings by Daniel Keleher at the Wild Carrot Press.
The volume was designed by John Anderson, who set the text in Janson and the titles in Hammer's American Uncial; the laid-finish letterpress paper was specially made for this edition by the Mohawk Mills. Robert Burlen and Son bound the work in full dark brown aniline leather with a Pearson illustration stamped in blind on the front cover and the title in gilt on the spine.
This is => numbered copy 1063 of 2000 printed, signed at the colophon by Heaney, Pearson, and Flanagan. The appropriate LEC newsletter and an informational leaf regarding the binding leather are laid in.
