1937. Small Octavo. A 1937 eter Hurd sketch book of 90 drawings of which 20 are hand colored landscapes. Peter Hurd came into wide public acclaim in 1967 but his seminal work was in 1937 which occurred during his showing in New York. Here his travels through the West beginning with Mexico where he shows the street people, market day at Taxco, a siesta at Xochimilcho, into New Mexico, reaching up to Wyoming with scences not only of the landscapes for which he would later become best known but also including the Mullen Creek CCC Camp Centenial. All bound in an orange cloth book titled scribbler in black, cloth on spine loose. An early look at his sketches done while traveling.
