1917. Original poster. Offset lithograph. 28.25 by 21.25 inches. Iconic U.S. Marines recruiting poster from World War I. A recruiting sergeant in dress blues beckons the viewer, backed by blocks of patriotic red, white and blue. Charles Buckles Falls (1874-1960) was an American artist and illustrator who produced a number of posters during WWI. He is also know for his illustrations of books and magazines, but also worked in other media such as fabric, furniture, and theater design. Minor repair to bottom right margin not affecting image. Very good condition with original color well preserved. An excellent example of offset lithography. (Inventory #: 266532)
