Alexandre-Antonin Taché settled at the Red River Mission in 1845 and was named second bishop of St. Boniface in 1863. VINGT ANNÉES... is a revealing look at conditions around Fort Garry in the years before the Confederation, and immediately before the Red River Rebellion of 1869, which Taché helped quell.
