by [Los Angeles Photographica]
[Los Angeles and other California locations, 1902. Forty-eight original photographic prints, measuring from 7 1/2 x 5 inches to 2 x 2 1/4 inches. Five of the photographs done by a commercial photography house, the rest non- professional. Contemporary oblong 12mo. photo album, three quarter red leather and cloth. Front inner joint open. A few leaves removed. One photograph neatly torn in half and mended. Neat internally, with the images clean and bright. Very good. A nice album of original photographs of California scenes, with most of the images coming from southern California, and several featuring the 1902 Tournament of Roses parade. Included among the original photographs are images of the San Gabriel Mission and several pictures of parks in Los Angeles, including West Lake Park (now MacArthur Park), East Lake Park (now Lincoln Park), Elysian Park, and Echo Park. Fourteen of the photographs show scenes of the 1902 Tournament of Roses parade, including images of horse-drawn floats, judges in motorized vehicles festooned with flowers, and a shot of the several members of the University of Michigan football team in a wagon. There is also a photograph of Santa Barbara, one of a parade of the 7th Regiment of California volunteers, another of the Golden Gate, and one of ostriches at a South Pasadena ostrich farm. One of the images depicts the woman who assembled the album and likely took the photographs, Nina Lawry.
