Hardcover. Paper pastedown. String ties. . Very Good. N.d., circa 1930s. 4to. 29 by 22 cm. 65 pp. with playing cards, generally four per page, and a total of over 240 cards in the album, including decorative backs that are of dogs, cats, grandfather clocks, horses, soldiers, girlie cheesecake, . The album binding was created specifically for a playing card collection, but the playing cards were all gathered or compiled by the collector, as evident by a number of empty leaves, plus the printed preface that speaks tersely about playing cards, their endless variety and the virtue of this album for preserving specimens. Front board reattached. The leaves are dried and brittle, with chips and the like, as typical of album papers of the late 1800s into the 20th century. Still, the album cover, with its colored shallow relief decoration of a joker and four aces, is quite attractive. (Inventory #: 004739)
