A SOUTHERN RECORD. THE HISTORY OF THE THIRD REGIMENT LOUISIANA INFANTRY
by Willie H. Tunnard | Edwin C. Bearss (Introduction and Index)
Dayton, Ohio: Morningside Book Shop, 1970. Limited Facsimile Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine binding/Near Fine dust jacket. First published in 1866, this is the reprint issued by Morningside Press in 1970 as Facsimile 3. This is stamped Review Copy and is from the library of Civil War historian Bud Robertson with his bookplate on the front pastedown. Robertson considers the work to be "[a]n excellent composite of personal accounts of battles and army life in the Arkansas-Missouri region". Eicher lauds it as "document[ing] the war experiences of a much-traveled Confederate unit ... with great clarity" [Eicher 1062]. Coulter believes it to be "an exceptionally valuable commentary on conditions in the Civil War South" [Coulter 455]. A lovely copy of the Morningside Press edition, with toning to the endpapers and essentially no other flaws. (Nevins I, 171; Eicher 1062; Coulter 455). Near Fine binding / Near Fine dust jacket. (Inventory #: 273322)
