He also starred in the classic WWII P.O.W. film The Great Escape with Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and Donald Pleasence. McCallum was nominated for one Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmy's for his work in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and another Primetime Emmy for a Lead Actor in a Single Performance in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Teacher, Teacher (1969).
