by COSTIGAN, JAMES
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1959. First Edition, First Printing. Signed presentation copy from James Costigan to actor Charlton Heston and his wife. Inscribed by the author: “August 18, 1963, Beverly Hills, Inscribed to Lydia and Charlton Heston in celebration of fifteen years of unflagging friendship. With love and gratitude, Little Jimmy Smith from Mt. Gretna, PA, alias Costigan.” Above the inscription, beneath a penciled price of $3.50, Costigan has humorously added, “and cheap at half the price”. Illustrated with black & white stills from each play, featuring Julie Harris (to whom the book is dedicated), George Peppard, and Tom Clancy from ‘Little Moon of Alban’ and Julie Harris, Donald Woods, and Michael Higgins from ‘A Wind From the South’. Very good copy with a hint of use in a very good slightly used dust jacket with some small chips and tears and a bit of darkening to the spine. James Costigan won an Emmy for the television play Little Moon of Alban which was part of the acclaimed "Hallmark Hall of Fame" series, airing on March 24, 1958, starring Julie Harris, George Peppard, Dirk Bogarde, and Tom Clancy. Presentation copies from Costigan are rare, especially in such a terrific association. (Inventory #: 20818E)
