by Sackville-West, Vita
no: no publisher, 1961. Unbound. Good. Typed letter signed (TLS) by Vita Sackville-West with three lines in her own hand on blue airmail stationary, dated 1961, with holograph correction. Text reads: 31st. October 1961, Dear Mrs. Stewart, Many thanks for your letter. The poem 'Sissinghurst' was written in 1930. I don't think I can tell you much more about 'Orlando' than you probably already know, i.e. that it was based on an imaginary character living through the centuries. If you want to know more of the background I would advise you to get my own book 'Knole and the Sackvilles', which gives a description of the house and my family. It is published in England by Ernest Benn. Yours sincerely, V. Sackville-West. I suppose you have read 'The Moth and the Star' by Aileen Pippett pub. ny Little, Brown, & Co. Boston.
