VG- (possibly ex-museum/gallery/libris w/ taped red, round classification sticker to lower spine edge; no other markings evident. scuffs & marks to wraps). White & color illus. stapled wraps. 16 pp., 6 BW illus. Photo is of a previous copy. Issued in conjunction with a 1971 exhibition that was "not a comprehensive review of quilt-making in America, but rather a demonstration of inherent regard for a tangible form of visual satisfaction. Considerations of technique, geographical distinction and historic significance have been excluded in favor of visual content. Color, pattern and line take precedent over fabric, stitching and regional traits. Therefore, the exhibition is devoted to 'pieced' quilts because that technique produced a body of work notable for its strong visual qualities." (p. 5) Consists of a narrative supplemented by six illustrations. The exhibition checklist cites 60 pieces. Includes a selected bibliography.
