The Benefactors of the Medical School of Harvard University; with a Biographical Sketch of the Late Dr. George Parkman. An Introductory Lecture delivered at the Massachusetts Medical College, November 7, 1850
by Holmes, Oliver Wendell
Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1850. 1st ed. Paperback. Very Good. 37p. Pamphlet. Disbound (removed from a bound volume). No separate wrapper present. Stitchmarks, etc. along left side. Dr. Parkman was murdered in 1849. John Webster, a fellow physician and a lecturer at Harvard Medical College, was convicted of the murder and hung in 1850. Holmes, then serving as Dean of the college, speaks in this uncommon pamphlet about Parkman's life but does not discuss the murder or the case against Webster. (Inventory #: 85831)
