by Adelson, Fred Barry
Columbia University, 1984. Softcover. VG- (Ex-gallery with spine label & few interior marks; copied illustrations are ghostly and indiscernible.). Dissertation. 2 vols. Photocopied from micofilm by UMI. Black paper wraps, 884 leaves, many BW illus. Dissertation. The first study to focus on the landscapes of American genre painter Alvan Fischer, in order "to reassert his significance in the history of nineteenth-century American painting." (abstract) Quite detailed. Unfortunately, the illustrations didn't do well in the copying process. Still a comprehensive treatment of this artist.
