Novalis (Friedrich Von Hardenberg): His Life, Thoughts and Works
by Novalis (Hardenbeg, Friedrich von)
London: David Stott, 1891. Small Octavo. xxii, 246pages. Includes his life history written by C.A. Just. The translation is by M.J. Hope. Novalis' philosophy was just rediscovered seriously in the 1960's. This work has been out-of-print for over a century and is listed in the bibliographies on his life as basic. His aphorisms appear on p. 175 and continue on p. 238. One of the best introductions to his work in English. Bound in 1/4 white parchment over green cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, finger soiling, spot to upper board, some toning to page edges. A very good copy. (Inventory #: 018818)
