Engraved stationers and lithographers printed label inside the front wrapper, Wilbur & Hastings Stationers, 40 Fulton Street, New York. Recommendation of a bicycle man, A. B. Barkman, noted at the front wrapper.Gustav Kobbe (1857 - 1918) was a New York writer on music, drama and travel, as well as a map maker, who began his literary career as coeditor of the Musical Review. He was on the staff of the New York Sun and wrote many articles for the leading American magazines of the time: The Century Magazine, Scribner's, The Forum, North American Review, and Ladies' Home Journal. He became music critic of the New York Herald when it was owned by James Gordon Bennett.The front wrapper printed on the horizontal in blue, with engraved illustration of bicycle rider on a tree lined country lane. The front wrapper dusty, a bit marked by damp, the rear wrapper a bit bumped. The map, 70 x 86 cm. A few splits at map folds, otherwise good + condition. A short tear where the map attaches.
