A Middle English dictionary containing words used by English writers from the twelfth to the fifteenth-century ... a new edition, re-arranged, revised, and enlarged by Henry Bradley
by Stratmann, Francis
Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1891. First edition, 8vo, pp. xxiii, 708; publisher's half red morocco gilt, t.e.g., rubbed, but a good, sound copy. Although described as a posthumous edition of Stratmann's A Dictionary of the Old English Language completed by Bradley from Stratmann's unfinished revision, the work is substantially changed and improved from the earlier editions. Among the important improvements are Bradley's alphabetizing of the entries and clarification of the etymology. Bradley, of course, was co-editor with Murray of the New English Dictionary (OED). Kennedy 4361.
