The extremities are mildly rubbed, bumped, and scratched, and the rear board is subtly moisture stained. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front pastedown. The text block is cracked at the beginning and end, with the pages at the front hanging on by a thread, and the final pages, including the last illustration completely detached, but present. The illustration at p. 16 is partially loose. Pp. 84-85 have large darkened strips. All plates present. With illustrations in color by Jessie Willcox Smith, prominent female Golden Age illustrator.
