She and her husband live in a 200-year-old log house on their ridge-country farm in the Outer Bluegrass of Kentucky. For thirty years they bred, raised, sold, and raced thoroughbreds. Now she helps care for their retired racehorses, keeps track of the birds and wildflowers on the farm, and writes in her workshed in the woods. Great Naps is made up of three short vignettes of napping moments on Richards farm - asleep with the horses, on a tractor, and in a truck.
