Free Thoughts upon the Brute-Creation: wherein Father Bougeant's Philosophical Amusement, &c. is Examined in Two Letters to a Lady... the third edition
by Hildrop, John
London: Jacob Loyseau, 1751. Third edition. Hardcover. Good. 1751, third edition. Hardcover, 8vo., contemporary leather-backed boards. 151 pp. Good. Notable for 5 preliminary pages of neatly written ruminations in a scholarly vein on evil and hell, in Greek, Latin and English. Possibly by a D. J. Hall, esq., c. 1850. Ink note in Greek and Latin on rear blank as well. Spine leather dry and flaking with mild loss. Light foxing to contents; a few small and shallow instances of worming to the margins. All early editions of Hildrop, a religious author with a satirical inclination, are rare on the market. Digital images available upon request.
