by [O'Neill, Eugene (sourcework)]: Shaw, Irwin [screenwriter]
[Np: Hartmann Productions], 1956. 132 leaves. Quarto. Mimeographed typescript, printed on rectos only. Bradbound. First two leaves and terminal leaf a bit frayed and nicked, and detached from brads, but otherwise very good. An unspecified but early pre-production draft of Shaw's screenplay adaptation of O'Neill's 1924 play. The film was released in March of 1958. Although his name does not appear on this script, Shaw was the credited screenwriter; Delbert Mann directed, and Sophia Loren, Anthony Perkins, Burl Ives, et al made up the cast. Mann was nominated for the Palme d'Or, and the film received two other nominations (including for an Oscar), for B&W Cinematography. OCLC/Worldcat locates a single copy of any form of this script, at Ohio State. OCLC: 24002321. (Inventory #: WRCLIT76129)
