Large 8vo, black cloth rebind, 912 pp. A quite scarce early history of Mercer and Henderson Counties, drawn from records in the Mercer County Historical society as well as interviews with settlers and other primary sources. Contains a history of the county from Joliet and Marquette's explorations onward. With a history of the Eighty-Fourth Regiment Illinois Infantry, lithographs of prominent citizens, etc. A very good copy with a quite sound modern binding. Some professional repairs to margins of title page, contents generally excellent. Title continues (in interim): Gathered from matter furnished by the Mercer County Historical Society, Interviews with old settlers, county, township and other records, and extracts from files of papers, pamphlets and such other sources as have been available.
