Divided into two parts, on urban and suburban architecture, the main text is printed in two columns framed by a ruled border. With locations in the left column, and corresponding details in the right, this guide handily leads the reader through Ravenna's gates, bridges, churches, and palaces. The plates, described in the Preface and bound at the end, include a plan of the baptistry; San Vitale; and a very large folding plan of the city.
