Written in two parts: Castello Sant'Angelo Attraverso la Storia (Castello Sant'Angelo throughout History); and Escursione Storico-Artistico per il Monumento (A Historic-Artistic Tour of the Monument). Each section with several sections; index of illustrations; index of names. NOTE ON DATE OF PUBLICATION: The date listed on the title page is "Anno IX E.F." from when Mussolini changed time/dates to correspond with his system of the Fascist Era (Era Fascista). Anno IX corresponds to October 1930 - October 1931. (Castel Sant'Angelo is the mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian and his family. It towers above the Tiber River in Rome.) This particular volume was once owned by art donors Paul and Gabriele Geier. Paul Geier was with the US Embassy in Rome, where he and Gabriele became good friends with Bernard Berenson, owner of Villa I Tatti, which later became Harvard University's international center for research and scholarship in art history. The villa is renowned for its library, for which many of the funds were donated by the Geiers.
