Union Army Manuscript Report on Lost Stores from Memphis, Tennessee, 1864

Very Good. 1864. Ephemera. A manuscript document from the Union Army's Capt. Louis Krughoff, Co. C, 49th Regiment Illinois Infantry, explaining lost stores in a Civil War battle. One page, extracted neatly on left edge, with one fold split. The report, dated June 14, 1864 at Memphis, Tennessee, describes the company's losses at the Battle of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana (part of General Sherman's Red River Campaign) in which two of the regiment's men were killed and three wounded. A chart lists the weapons and ammunition lost there and during a separate shell explosion in May 1864, including six muskets. The document is signed by Captain Louis Krughoff, Sergeant George Berz, and Lieutenant Frank K. Burrows from the regiment. ; 12 1/2" x 7 3/4" . (Inventory #: 010897)
