A complete issue of the New-York American, containing nearly three columns on the Peoria Party, credited with first blazing the Oregon Trail in 1839. Some edge chipping where paper was bound at one point, fold corner holes, detached pages. Previous owner's name at top of front page. The Peoria account, dispatched from the Peoria N. W. Gazetteer, came from Obadiah Oakley, who was one of the members who turned back when the hardship- and quarrel-ridden party splintered.
