Baltimore: Frenklin Betts, 1822. Second Edition. Both volumes of this complete, two volume set are in very good+ condition in contemporary bindings of full leather covered boards decorated with ink staining with red leather labels with gilt text and with gilt double rules and volume numbers on the spines. Both are small octavos measuring 8 1/4 by 5 1/16 inches. Volume II is missing its first free (blank) end sheet and both volumes have an early former owner's name on the preliminaries and title pages. The contents of both volumes are light tanning throughout and minor ink stains to the edges of the text blocks. The title goes on to add: "To which is added, the most important resolutions of the Continental Congress, and many of the most important letters of General Washington." Volume I contains 592 pages. Volume II contains 510 pages. First published in 1819 also in Baltimore. According to Sabin this edition duplicates the first printing of 1819. (Gephart, 1042; Howes, 155; Sabin, 854) A very clean and neat set with the pages tightly bound.
