Watts and Doddridge were close colleagues, with Doddridge's most well-known work, "The Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul," being dedicated to his counterpart. Watts himself wrote hymns that greatly expanded the existing canon, and was also a respected logician, whose work on logic became a standard text at Harvard and Yale.
