A Brief Record of the Advance of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force
by Allenby, General Sir Edmund H.H.; T. E. Lawrence
London: His Majesty's Stationery Office, 1919. Hardcover. Very good. 4to. 113pp., followed by 56 color plates, nearly all of them maps, showing the various advances and captures. Blue-green cloth spine, paper over boards printed in black. Frontispiece portrait of General Allenby with his signature, probably a facsimile. (All copies of his signed portrait we have reviewed have the same signature apparently original yet suspiciously identical in every respect to each other.) Two reports are by T. E. Lawrence, uncredited. Aside from his reports in the Arab Bulletin and in The Times, they represent his first published accounts of the Arab campaign: "Sherifian Co-operation in September" [facing plate 49-50] and "The Story of the Arab Movement" [facing plate 51-53] . See O'Brien A011. Light soil and traces of wear else this is a very nice copy. This is the first edition printed in England, preceded by the edition published by the Palestine News the previous year.
