Originally published in 1939 by the Maternity Center Association, this beautifully illustrated book reproduces life-size sculptures of fertilization, fetal growth, stages of labor, and return of the uterus to normal size and position. Renowned obstetrician Robert Latou Dickinson designed the models that were sculpted by Abram Belskie. This 1948 reprint of the second edition contains 16 plates numbered 1 to 15, and 17, as issued and indicated in the 8-page introductory booklet explaining the plates, and bound at the beginning of the book. The booklet is printed on yellow paper and measures 13 x 10 5/8". Each plate measures 22 x 17 3/8".Edges and corners heavily rubbed. Portfolio in overall fair, interior in very good condition.
