San Clemente, California: 12 Gauge Press, 2005. First Edition. Soft Cover. Near Fine. 8vo. Presentation copy with signed original watercolor ("hey, very pretty woman"). Printing was limited to 500 books of which 14 were presentation copies. The sequel to Wright's first successful novel, The Whorehouse, and described by him as being "about the hippie generation and discovery, about strays coming in to the city, rock 'n' roll music and blues, classics and folk music." Sound perfect binding. Clean pages. Original art is bright and fresh. The book has almost no wear save for a tiny dot of scuffing on the front cover. The cover appears to have some discoloration, but it does not; it is simply the way the cover was intentionally printed. Fred Wright, who died in 2012 at the age of 71, was from Matoon, Illinois, but lived for years in the mountains of southern California. A well-regarded "psychedelic" artist, poet, and author, his works were regularly published in the small press. His work has been favorably compared to Richard Brautigan and Hunter S. Thompson. He was influenced by Kenneth Patchen, for whom he illustrated a children's book, Because It's Good to Keep Things Straight. Quite scarce; as of 2016, only held by one institution, the University of California at Berkeley, per OCLC and no auctions records at ABPC or the Rare Book Hub.

We always have an inventory of unique Americana on hand, that is, we keep a selection of personal narratives such as diaries, work journals, correspondence collections, photograph albums, scrapbooks, and similar items that shed light on some aspect of North American life, culture, or society. Additionally, as generalists, we often have a nice selection of philatelic material (primarily postal history), children's books, illustrated books, unusual non-fiction, sheet music, and other paper ephemera.
