Each unique leaf is a complex Victorian fantasy of Medieval illumination (by Charles Rolt), with dreamy and intricate vine scrolls bordering densly-colored initials that are barely recognizable as letters.. 37 cm; 27 leaves, each with mounted chromolithograph plate ruled in red. Bound in gilt and polychrome-stamped leather over boards, with a (more-or-less) Celtic cross decorated with stylized blossoms and leaves emanating from a roundel showing the Angus Dei. Edges and corners rubbed; upper joint tender and starting. Leaves variably foxed. (Inventory #: 5709)
