The plates were photographed in color by Thomas Raheb, from fine examples of Russian illustrated lacquer ware. The text is adapted from a Russian fairy tale and is translated from by Louis Zellikoff. Gilt on spine lightly rubbed, else fine in black pyroxylin with gilt decorations and a single jewel set into the front cover. All edges orange. Bookplate to front paste-down. (Bradbury, p. 214).
