Boards slightly soiled, front hinge cracked but holding, rear hinge starting. Light but persistent dampstaining and occasional foxing. Top portion of p.181 torn away, affecting four lines of text. About good. A detailed account of Lauzun's amorous adventures at the French court, including an affair with Marie Antoinette, and his services in Connecticut, Yorktown and New York under the command of Rochambeau. After attaining high rank in the French revolutionary army, he was "railroaded" to and died at the guillotine in 1793. This is the first printed edition of his memoirs.
