A sumptuous Limited Editions Club rendering of the epic poem The Song of Roland, the epic poem based on the Battle of Roncevaux in 778. Here it is in the translation by C.K. Scott Moncrieff (1889–1930) and edited by Hamish Miles (1894–1937). This work was hand-set in English Caslon type on Pannekoek Marken paper by Edmund B. Thompson at Hawthorn House, Windham, CT. Of 1500 copies printed, this is number 283.
=> Artwork for this edition was made by Valenti Angelo (1897–1982), who hand-illuminated his illustrations before signing the colophon.
Binding: Quarter vellum and blue paper covered boards, gilt lettering and ruling on spine, gilt designs on covers, colored vignette of a knight on front; all done by the Russell-Rutter Company, New York.
