London: Macmillan and Co., 1871. First Edition. Both volumes of this complete two volume set are in very good+ condition in 3/4 red leather and light red cloth covered boards. The leather covering the spines is tanned and has five raised bands with gilt tool work and text in all of the compartments. Each volume is a small octavo measuring 7 7/8 by 5 1/4 inches with marbled end sheets. The leather over the joints for both volumes is worn, but the joints and binding remain tight and strong. The fly title page for both volumes is inscribed with an early prior owner's name and date of "187?". Volume I contains 277 pages and is illustrated with a frontispiece engraving and 24 plates. Tipped in immediately after xii is a errata slip. Volume II contains 272 pages and is illustrated with a frontispiece and five plates. (Inventory #: TB28579)
