Good+ in its original tan cloth covered boards with gilt text on the spine and with gilt text and a design of a coiled rope and ice pick on the front board. An octavo measuring 9 by 6 inches with map end sheets. The upper fore corner of the text block has been gnawed probably by mice with no loss to the text. The cloth on the spine is heavily tanned with the lower 1/2" of the cloth on the spine bleached nearly white and slightly frayed. The cloth on the boards is slightly tanned with signs of minor damage from insects. Without a dust jacket. The second free end page is signed and dated Nov. 3, 1913 by Herschell C. Parker who created the appendix. This book is also marked on the recto and verso of the first free end page by its prior owner, Robert L. M. Undrhill (1889 – 1983), a mountain climber of note who introduced the modern Alpine style of rope and belaying technique to climbers in the US. 381 pages including indexes to the to the 1906, 1910 and 1912 expeditions. Tipped-in just before the indexes is a large, fold-out map in three colors of the Mount McKinley Region showing routes followed in the 1906, 1910 and 1912 expeditions. This map is in excellent condition with no tears, chips, flaws or extra creases. (Inventory #: TB28584)
