From the copyright page: "This work is dedicated to the integral reproduction in heliogravure of the 105 etchings made by Marc CHAGALL, for the illustrations of the Bible. The artist specially composed for the present work 16 lithographs in color and 12 in black as well as the cover and title page. This book constitutes a double number (33-34) of VERVE in the French edition. The American edition is published by HARCOURT, BRACE and Company, New York." All of the lithographs and heliogravures are in pristine condition, with no wear or markings of any kind. Folio, the color and black lithographs printed by Mourlot Freres, the heliogravures in black by Draeger Freres. With an appreciation by Meyer Schapiro.
