The San Francisco Bay Guardian. Since 1966 the weekly newspaper of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Vol. 10 no. 49, September 10 through September 17
by Brugmann, Bruce, editor & publisher
San Francisco: Bruce Brugmann, 1976. 32p., newsprint, 17x11 inches, folded transversely in standard tabloid format. Complete in one section. Front page headlines: "Where Have All the Longhairs Gone?" [from college campuses]; "The Terror of the SF Courts: The bizarre but true story of Judge John O'Kane" [sidebar: "You can burglarize a theatre owner or beat up a masseuse and have the case against you dismissed by O'Kane if he decides he hates the sex life of your victim"]; "Christo's running media blitz"; "Flash! Napoleon wins at Waterloo! Chuck Fager pays a peaceful visit to San Jose's war games convention"; "The scandal of student loans"; "Miz Lillian's Childhood Hero" [President Carter's wife]; "Romping from bed to bed" [movie review]. Find relatively quite a lot on film, not much on politics, but the O'Kane story is heavily bracketed and annotated in fountainpen ink by a reader (or an insider) who is opinionated.. this story's headline is also circled on the cover page. FYI, fountainpen ink bleeds through but not too badly. Last page is decorated with an R. Crumb Mr.Natural cartoon panel dated '76. (Inventory #: 206289)
