Published from October 1956 to spring 1959, "Le Surréalisme, même" was a major surrealist magazine of the postwar period. In it, André Breton sought to give new impulsion to Surrealism and brought together different generations of surrealists or worked with artists close to the movement (Pierre Molinier, known for his photo-montage, made the cover of the second issue). The magazine's prestigious contributors included: Joyce Mansour, Man Ray, Leonora Carrington, Marcel Duchamp, Hans Bellmer, Pierre Molinier, Jean Schuster, and many more. Issue #1 with pages 73-120 in form of loose inserted booklet titled "Les Détraqués" by P.-L. Palau, a play that fascinated Breton and to which he devoted several pages in "Nadja". Issue #2 with pages 115-142 in form of loose inserted booklet titled "Le Royaume de la Terre" by Abel Gance and Nelly Kaplan. "Le Surréalisme, même" was cancelled after 5 issues.
