Has been folded one more time with noticeable lines. Dampstains across a large portion of the map with most noticeable light color bleeding along vertical center fold. Images available upon request. The ornate title cartouche includes waterfalls, headdresses, and exotic New World rodents and reptiles. "From the Original Materials of Thomas Pownall," an Englishman who spent time in the colonies as a governor and often spoke for their interests in the years preceding the Revolutionary War. Insets include the area around Baffin and Hudson Bays and a chart of the colonial powers and their colonies. Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville was one of the best scientific mapmakers of the time. This map was published more than a decade after his death, "with the addition of the Spanish Discoveries in 1775 to the North of California & Corrected in the several Parts belonging to Great Britain." ; 42" x 50" .
